Im getting a payrise from my boss. My job encompasses quite a few fields , graphic design , website design & administration , some basic hardware , software and network support. The first 2 are what i mainly do.

Im just wondering if there is anywhere people can point to for information on current market salaries for the said skills. I want to go to him with some realistic information about how much people are generally paid within my field.

thanks for your time and help people.

Search on jobserve.com or look on the Computer Weekly site. In todays climate it depends on how important and irreplaceable you are. I'm not being funny but if we wanted someone with your skills the IT agencies would send dozens and dozens of CVs because there are so many IT staff out of work.

Can't you try to get a target related bonus scheme instead? Then you get out what you put in.

Get friendly with someone who works in HR and has access to the Watson and Wyatt (I think) data. It's should be able to give you all the data you need!

Question

Congrats on the raise and nice timing!

Has he suggested the raise or did you drive it? Market forces will count for something but, no doubt you'll both have a figure in mind so why not sit down and talk turkey?

Cheers

thanks mark , my boss suggested the payrise along with more responsibility which i was happy with. He told me to think about what i want , how much etc.. very very relaxed workplace too. I start at 10 or so and finish at 4 , do 3 days a week at the moment.

Dont need to worry about competition from other people with similar skills. Job is mine (for definate) . I am also getting commission aswell as my basic

just some pointers of job sites that display skills and salary . so i can go to him.
