They then spend the rest of their life under license, so if they commit another crime, no matter how trivial they are straight back inside. That's the theory, anyway.
Who was murdered and how?

Someone kills another person, they should be put to death! no questions asked, no appeals, if we get it wrong now and again tough, 99% of the time it would be the right course of action. And as we keep being told in any war there is always collateral damage.

Sorry to hear about it mate. This is if they get to prove that its 1st murder and not 2nd degree murder. These type of cvnts seem to not get a long sentence that they deserve. Life should mean life and no parole..

One is premeditated and the other is not. The only way to get done for first is when you plan the murder beforehand (i.e. revenge) which is the more serious of the two. In some countries, this would amount to death whereas the second would probably get you life with parole in 10 years. Not sure how the system works here but I can ask my parents if you want as they've taken English law.
edit: Its also going to be up to their lawyers and how good (or sleazy) they are. I hate them with a passion because a lot of criminals are on the loose thanks to their deceitful ways.

If a knife is involved then wouldnt that be classed as pre meditated?
Even though, he could have allways carried a knife on him?

Yes, but there's not much required to make it premeditated. For example, someone in our town got done for 1st degree murder. He went round and stabbed his neighbour due to some disagreement over noise . But the point was that he took the knife with him, so he must have "planned" the attack. If there had been a scuffle, and during it he had picked up the knife from the kitchen worktop, then it'd be 2nd degree or manslaughter.

edit: I'll phone my parents up at midnight to compensate for the time difference but I think I might be correct but I better make sure.

1st degree mean's he will get life with a rec!
2nd degree mean's about 8 year's to life, i think!
my brother was stabbed to death, straight through the heart,
the kid that did it got life, then appealed without our barristers there, and got it knocked down to 8 years JUSTICE is sh*t sometimes.

Scoobchrissy, as far as I am aware there is no thing in English law such as 1st/2nd degree murder. We have murder and manslaughter both of which hold life sentences although in the case of murder life is mandatory.
When someone is sentenced to life, they are given a minimum tariff..ie period they must serve inside before being eligible to apply for parole. The current average tariff is approx 15 years although there are many many lifers who go into the 20+ years. The tariff will vary depending on the circumstances surrounding the murder.

Whats wrong with the police stopping and frisking on a Friday and Saturday Night, whats wrong with 'All' of the clubs statuatory use of metal detectors to stop these ********* carring Knives into town 'For a Good Night out' .
The Priorities are very wrong with Policing in this country, and its the reason I stopped clubbing a few years ago on a regular basis - Too many ***** wanting to fight the world after a sniff of the barmaids apron .
To Serve and Protect - What a Joke, Still they can be relied upon to nick us for speeding on some nice quiet empty backroad
Condolences to your mates family BTW

Luke,
I really hope I'm reading what you've posted wrong. Someone has been murdered - who is a friend of David, a good friend of mine - and you're saying "hard luck, that's the country we've made it"
If that isn't what you mean, I suggest you edit your post. I'll not comment on it if that is what you meant to say, as it wouldn't be pleasant.
Cheers,
Nick.
