check the small print on the barclaycard.
you will still pay interest on the fifty pounds a mnth you spend.
when you pay each month, say for example £100, this £100 will be applied to the item which is at the lowest (ie 0%) apr. so it will pay off your transfer first and only until it has been cleared will payments then be applied to your purchase's. which will have been accumulating at £50 a mnth at an apr of between 15 - 20 %.
can you tell i used to work for them

Yes, I agree with asifR, I looked into the Barclay card deal and it not as good as it first appears.
They was quite up front about it, they're not trying to con anyone, its just not as good as 0% for six months for example.
Sainsburys are doing one 0% for six months i think and you can get tickets to New York for £199 (but you can get that from BA at the moment).
Mint have just sent me a new card and that got a 0% time scale as previously mentioned.

asifR - purchases on my Barclaycard are 9.9% and have been for years, how long ago did you work for them ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
As with all credit agreements you pay off the oldest items first, except if the agreement specifically states otherwise, in BC's case they clearly state you pay off 0% transfers first, then other promotional balances then purchases then cash advances (at a shocking 19.3%).
Also worth noting what credit limit you can get and the minimum payment. I've found most of the smaller card companies give crappy limits under 10k which is useless and some want 3% a month.
It's always worth looking at cards with a higher rate but fixed for a longer period. No faffing about and you won't get stung if they all stop doing 0% (unlikely).

Cheers guys, I talked to them over the phone so haven't got any paper work yet so will read it when it turns up. I had no idea you pay off the balance first
However the transfer only needs to be for a few months till it gets paid off so I might be better off with another credit card provider then which doesn't apply the £50 a month spend and will allow me to have true 0% balance.
I will have another read through www.money.co.uk!
