You should try and get Paphos as Limassol is a Sh*****e. The local drinking area there is known as the Galatex and is usually full of angry little Cypriots. Far better atmosphere in Paphos, however it will be quiet at this time of the year.

Thumbs up

Nutter,

Paphos is a superb place. Lots of bars and restaurants around the harbour area. You get a good opportunity to see and meet the locals at night if you wish, and if you don't then you do your own thing. Quite a lot of Scoobs and Evo's do the waterfront pose thing; however nice place to be.

If you are looking for heavy nightlife though then its Ayanapa for you. Not my thing I'm afraid.

Whatever you do you will find the people very friendly. Have been 4 times in the last 5 years so I guess I sort of like the place.

Enjoy.

There are plenty of car hire places there and, as it is off-season, I can't see much point in pre-booking. Just check the roadworthiness of the thing before you take it as some of them are real death-traps.
With regards to the Police, they do carry out speed-checks now and again and they will pull you if you are going too fast. You can expect an on-the-spot fine too (How much goes in their pocket is anyones guess!) I got done doing 57 in a 50 and got a £40 cypriot fine. I wouldn't advise trying to bribe them though, as some can be a little 'feisty' to say the least!
