Question

Im thinking of getting one to tinker with. Any recommendations? My dad mentioned the Sony that stores to cd any opinions? Also i dont want to spend a silly amount!

Hi mate

I have been looking into this and just bought one today. My budget was up to 500 quid and I wanted a MiniDV one with memory card so i could take stills too.

It came down to this JVC one and this Panasonic one.

Got the JVC one as although I thought the Panasonic looked nicer, the JVC had greater functionality. Jessops could not price match it for 419 quid, they said they could only offer 455 so i bought it from http://www.prcdirect.co.uk for 428 with delivery.

Also looked at the equivalent Canon but that had poor performance in low light. Didnt look at Sony as they pi55 me off by being arrogant and insisting you use their own memory devices, and I already have some healthy sized SD cards.

I got the Panasonic one druddle mentions.

Had a play with it in Jessops, then ordered fromDigital Point
for £100 less
