I think I understand where Rice is coming from.
When someone says 'yeh, I'll have it' then decides two days later he doesnt want the item. By that time, others have lost interest and gone elsewhere.
Happens too often!

What it was I agreed a price with someone and only was waiting for a address to send the cheque to, got an email back saying hold the cheque then another email saying that they decided to swap it with someone else.
How fecking annoying is that!!!!!!

I've never done that to anyone, it's a nasty thing to do.
I even split my stainless exhaust recently, as the first offer for part of it came in 10 minutes before the offer for the lot.
"simply not cricket" to go back on your word, and anyway I sold the other pieces soon after

Just happened to me when trying to book a ski chalet for next Christmas. Our provisional booking was suddenly forgotten about when the greedy beggars were obviously offered more money from someone else..it was those people who were on that C4 No Going Back program about Chamonix if anyone saw it!
