I was delighted to hear that Shipman had topped himself, till I heard about the victims, who wanted him to rot in prison for ever....reveal why he did it etc.

On balance I am glad...for the taxpayer. Just think of the money we are going to save.

I can't say that the human race will be worse off without him. Gald, definitely gald.

Huntley will be next. Or, he'll be killed by other inmates.

Why do people always say that ... "Oh well will save the tax payer ", he is / was a fixed cost.
Fixed cost? How come?

I see it as the easy way out.

He is dead so he wont suffer anymore, I would have been happier to see him locked up for his term, then beaten to death on his release.

Same for Huntley.

I cant believe he wouldn't still be a drain on the resources of the prison he was locked in if still alive, so...

GLAD !

never going to get out now. (not that he was likely to have)
One less sick and twisted individual to worry about.

I feel for the families of the victims, I'm sure they have a lot of questions they would have liked answered one day if he had the ***** to face them, which he obviously didn't choosing the easy way out.

Fixed vs variable cost is an interesting point. Apparently he was an arogant prisoner and took up a lot of guards time so presumably overtime costs etc. Plus due to his high profile he got additional attention. Prison costs are fixed up to the point where the taxpayer has to spend millions building a larger prison.

Personally, I don't think they should try too hard to stop convicted prisoners from suicide. If anyone is determined enough then they will commit suicide even with almost constant supervision.

The only good to come out of this is certainty that he won't be released to kill again.

Can someone now give Huntley a piece of rope and look away.

I can understand that the families of his victims are upset and that they wanted to sim him rot, deaths too good for him etc. but I think it will make things easier in the future for them: The whole thing isn't going to be publicly dragged up every few years whenever he does something newsworthy, no one is going to campaign for his release in 20 years time. Once the inquiry is over the families may begin to get a little closure?

You have to remember people, that in this country nobody 'rots' in prison. What they do is have a cushy life, watch a bit of TV, play the playstation e.t.c.

He's better off dead.

Glad.

The news last night said that the families were upset by his death because now they'd never know why he killed his victims... Somehow I doubt he'd have ever said why.

lets take a step back here for a minute.
I do not think it is okay to compare Shipman to that sexual predator and child killer Ian Huntley.

Shipman killed off elderly people, who had lead most of their lives already.
I would not be surprised if he knocked a few off on request.
A painless morphine injection is not that bad lets be honest here.

Also with regard to the victims relatives saying they were robbed, I mean what sort of crap are they talking about, I'm sure the same people said he should be hanged when he was given his life terms........hypocrites.
The last death penalty in the UK was hanging, so whats the problem??? people just want to complain no matter what!!!!
As for victim relatives , come on you know hes not going confess so you have to somehow let it go.

Another thing I hate is when people say he took the cowardly way out.
BS....the hardest thing , most unatural or against nature is to kill oneself.
At least Shipman had a little respect and went out swinging.
I would have to say that his family showed a level of loyalty that everybody can learn from, although hopefully in better circumstances.

Lennox Lewis actually said he was afraid of Shipman, Shipman had a much more lethal jab.
peace
