I am considering getting a dvd recorder for my TV combo, one question is I only have scart in on the TV combo so will I still be able to record tv shows? If so will it be reduced quality?

all dvd recorders have a tv tuner in them and so your tv's own tuner is not used for recording - only playback - scart is fine for playback, better if your tv supports rgb signal through the scart rather than composite.

R U hoping to record from the dvd/vhs player in the combo unit? - may be hampered by copy protection on most uk market dvd recorders - there are ways around this but it aint simple for non technical folks.

It's simple when you know how. Worth having a look at their multiregion player/recorders too. They chip them so they're foolproof, unlike some remote hacked multiregion machines.

Thumbs up

Works a treat for me. I copy rentals to VHS and they come out much better than pre-recorded VHS ever did! Retains the surround too if you set the DVD to output 2 speakers and select the Dolby Surround track
