Here is the scene.
1) Uncle's wife falls down stairs.
2) She ends up in a coma.
3) Sadly she passes away.
4) Wifes family accuse husband of foul play.
5) Husband is arrested. 18:30 (Monday)
6) Interviewed at 22:30(Monday)
7) Released at 1:00 (Wednesday)
8) Allowed into his house 12:30 (Wednesday)
Can he take legal action against his wife's family?
Deformation of character or something?

Are you certain that he wasn't capable of such an act? Was there any signs of a break down in their relationship? I'm sure the family must have had some basis for their accusation, or are they just a bunch of vindictive no hopers who didn't like him the start?
I wouldn't have thought he has much recourse, but I'm no legal expert!
A very nasty business by the sounds of it.

If he is not guilty, then he has nothing to worry about.
The investigation will go ahead wheather he likes it or not, so he will just have to go with the flow. In these circumstances I believe this process would be common.

Ooh er missus! Did the uncle have a lot to gain from this? This could be the family's concern. Surely he must have had something dodgy happen for the family to accuse him in the first place (that's just my opinion as a natural sceptic).

Don't think the title of this thread was 'Did my uncle do it?'
Come on guys, it must be upsetting enough for C h a z as is, without you lot trying convict his uncle too. Have a heart.

I used to be of the same opinion- until it happened to me (not murder i hasten to add)
Given the state of the british injustice system- he should be very worried.....

He has nothing to gain. He has allways supported his wife financially (sp?) He is now back in his house allthough the police are still turning the garden upside down. The local press have now got hold of the story, there is a picture of my uncles house right across the front page.

Was he released from Police custody with no further investigations to be made or has he been released on Bail pending further inquiries from the Police.
Until he has been cleared of any wrong-doings he should NOT take any actions on the people who have accused him etc..
Sounds like a right mess, good luck & hope all goes well!!

In the vast majority of such cases it *is* the closest relative who is the perpetrator. So the police will tend to come on heavy just to short-cut things. I'm sure all will be fine once they have checked things out, and realised he really is too weak etc.
