all the time mate, regatta de blanc is in the car at the mo, pure pure class, you might wanna check out a live double cd they released a few years back, one of their early gigs and one of their later ones, awesome, copeland is the best drummer ever (IMHO)

yeah
well there had been bust ups for quite a while in the band, even from the early days and it just got worse, all 3 would turn up to the studio with songs but it was always stings ones (which were normally the best!) that made it onto the albums, ghost in the machine has 1 summers and 1 copeland track and thats about it, its well known that early on copeland had 'f**k off you c**t' written across his kit as a reference to sting and they hated each other with a passion. Their last gig at shea stadium was massive (100,000) and after that gig sting thought they couldnt do any bigger shows than that, had enough so they called it at day, all from their early days when they played a gig in the US to 3 people, luckily one of em was a radio DJ!

Live album is a classic, got it in my car at the mo.
Copeland is an awesome drummer, they don't get much better, apart maybe from the guy in Def Leppard.
Synchronicity was the first album I ever bought and I now have all the LP's on vinyl, haven't got a record player, but I get a sense of satisfaction just knowing I've got them.
Mate came round one day who didn't remember the Police, made the mistake of picking up a DVD with all their videos on and asked what they are all about. Forced him to sit through them all, wasn't that impressed though, obviously some kind of freak then !

I'm not usually one for namedropping but I actually met Sting and his family a few years back. He seemed a genuinely nice bloke..not "starry" at all. He talked about NUFC for ages and didn't mention the rainforests once!

thought it was tantric sex lol
Boss has just read his book and has come to the same conclusion as most, will reserve judgment until I read it.
As some might know, I'm a bit of an 80's throwback and the Police (along with Madness) are massive favorites of mine.
Sting on his own is pretty good too, and 'shape of my heart' happens to be a fave of mine, probably as it's on the end credits of Leon.

Me too mate - most of my CD collection is from the 80's (where I've bought them on CD and hidden the vinyl LP's in the roof). It's expensive but worth it just be able to listen to them in the car
Amongst my old favs are Duran, Visage, Tears For Fear (possiblt about to go through a revival phase??), Spandau, Imagination, Depeche Mode, the list goes on and on and Ariston and on......

spoon,
depends how you're judging, for me copeland plays with the most raw energy and passion which is what also makes him technically not the best as he used to fall out with sting because he keeps speeding up while playing cos he enjoys it so much! Technically I dont think you're gonna get better than Dave Weckl but for me he plays so perfectly its boring!

Best Drummer?...
Easy, the great Billy Cobham.
Totally ambidextrus, sounds like four or five drummers at once. Awesome grooves, great player.
Also what about every drummers hero - Neil Peart form Rush?
Great drummer.

Stuart Copeland was good.
Buddy Ritch the Jazz Drummer from way back is considered to be the best drummer that ever lived.
He is never mentioned much these days but if you listen to him drum he makes excellect rock drummers sound very very average.
Steve
I thought Regatta de blanc was their best album.
