Why don't they just have a seperate disk like a tax disk that proves you're insured?
It hardly takes a genius to implement that system and it works just fine in Ireland.

1,250,000 uninsured motorists???![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Not surprised at all: my 17 year old just got quoted £2600 TPFT by Norwich "quote me happy" Union the robbing fekkers, on a 1.1 Fiesta, 1992.
Where's his incentive to pay up, when a fine would be £350?
And apparently, HMG could do TP insurance for ANYONE for no more than £400, as a non-profit making scheme, and most of us would pay £40 or so, then buy extra cover from Rip-off insurers as and when we wanted it.
But they don't do it.............no money in it for them, which is the same reason they can't be arsed to implement an insurance windscreen sticker scheme!!!
And also the reason no proper penalty has yet been brought in for car-jacking, or breaking into the house and demanding the keys with violence!!!
God, I HATE this government! The self-satisfied, lying, cheating, over-taxing b*stards

Good idea. It would be delivered along with your other insurance documents.
Surely just putting up insurance costs will mean that *more* drivers will drive uninsured. Why don't they think these things through?
I'm 99% decided to sell the Scoob and give up on performance cars altogether (Bikes are far cheaper and faster). Frankly, this could be the catalyst.

I think the disk thing is what they do in Ireland, pretty sure Jen had a disk on her pug for insurance. I think this would be a good idea, makes it easy to see if car is insured, plus we want more draconian punishment for non-insured drivers, maybe have the car impounded and sold and the money went to ins co's? maybe a bit harsh though.

So, to clarify, the Government are proposing a system whereby the people already abiding by the law are forced to pay even more to cover the costs of those who aren't. And there's nothing to suggest that uninsured / taxed / MoT'd people are going to be targetted in any way. Right. Sounds fair.

There a few clever dodger that manage to successfully avoid it by using copies but the 1 million odd wouldn't all be able to do it well.
Plus, all it takes is simple scanning device to tell the real from the fake. They can tell a fake disc almost instantly even if it's a perfect copy.
