my mates been offered a job for £6k more than he earns here so £16.5k per year.
hes renting with friends for £200 in surrey (chee is it?)
Is it worth it? londons expensive so i hear.

Only worth it if he's just planning on renting as the £6k may as well be 6p in the buying market with vast difference in prices between London and S Yorks.
London's not that much more expensive, if at all for anything other than houses and maybe the price of booze in pubs/bars.
Only mug tourists get ripped off with consumables.
Cheam is where you mean, I think.

£6k is not enough IMO to cover the increased cost of living. That's going on my experience of working in Finchley for 9 months before moving back up north with a rather large debt

Has he worked out the cost of the commute ?
e.g. Most people pay between £2.5k and £3.5k to commute into london (depends on distance obviously)
