On the back of the paket it says consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
My gf is 9 weeks gone but has a terrible sore throat (feels like she's swallowing glass!).
Cant get hold of the doctor - what do you reckon? Take one or not???

Freshly squeezed lemon, maple syrup and hot water...![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
1 Lemon and 2 tablespoons of syrup per mug will do the trick or a bit more if its really bad.
There's a reason why they say don't take while your pregnant/breastfeeding - the chemicals go straight to little junior.... not good during the formative years! Does make you wonder what's in this stuff!

I'm 26 weeks pregnant and as you may have seen from some of my posts I've been poorly all the way through.
When I was in hospital last I had a sore throat and they gave me Simple Linctus with warm water on it. You can get simple linctus at tesco and safeways it will be with the other cough syrup things. She can sip it slowly and it will sooth her throat.
They said I could have a strepsil if I wanted just not to go crazy with them. One or two isn't going to harm and she'll feel much better if her throat is more comfortable.
Tell her as much as it hurts to swallow she has to keep up her fluids. Little sips of water if she can. Warm ribena is quite soothing.
She is allowed to take paracetamol but not ibuprofen.
If she is feeling stuffy the old head over a bowl of hot water really helps. The steam will be good for her throat as well.
Hope she feels better soon
I know exactly what she's going through
take care

Oh and by the way ....
If you are ever in doubt you can phone NHS Direct
0845 46 47
If she has a look at her maternity record book from the midwife they will give her some numbers to call there as well.
Its always worth getting advice. Tell her not to feel silly for phoning better to be safe than sorry.
