not too sure but...........
maybe if you are allowed access thru BAE's firewall and you can connect to an anonymous proxy - maybe that would work because you can surf different sites without the firewall seeing the address changing (you are always connected to the same ip adress - the proxy).
Probably a load of bo**ox I just said but..... well hell.....

LOL @ beer vouchers.
Think its part of the "big picture" they keep harping on about.
I'm reading between the lines, but can see a mass redundancy programme about to unfold

Management team is still the same useless lot we've always had - In fact their ranks are swelling.
Theres 1 boss (exec or above) for every 2 workers in my dept!
No wonder were losing money - 2 many chiefs and not enough indians springs to mind.

Never mind us hard working office staff - giving access to shopfloor workers was ludicrous ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Now get back to work and stop clogging the system up !

I work at BAE SYSTEMS in Edinburgh as an Electronics Design Engineer and there is no way I could do my job without the internet!
I'm always on the web for component data sheets, info on suppliers, car parts, emailing FAE reps, RR days etc![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I used to work within IT at BAE, I am afraid they use airgaps now for email and proxy service and all traffic goes through this route.
AS most sites have a commercial LAN and a Secure Network it makes it tough to route through anywhere. Thus i left....just couldnt beat the system!!

Currently working nights so im using my home computer like a lot of the time. Us "shopfloor" workers dont have time to sit looking at a screen all day wondering what site to waste time on next like you "shiny asses"!.

Just tell BAE that by not allowing you to view the Google adverts, they are infact stealing from Scoobynet. They're bound to back down

Just heard that work (BAE Systems
I worked for them. In IT.
Got hauled before my Manager. Just because I used the Internet to read my web based email. I only used it as there was a regular 12 hour delay on work emails.
Secure network? lol! This is the network that is strictly controlled. No Internet. No diskette drives. No CD Roms. Therefore no links to the outside world and no one can copy dat onto the network, or copy stuff off. Therefore no need for Anti Virus.
So why did a senior IT Manger allow people to introduce diskette drives

Two hours before a major deal the secure network went done. A virus attack

Ex BAE IT here too! ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Isn't this a complete back-track? Everyone used to have to apply for internet access in BAE!
Just before I left (early last year) they introduced "Internet for All" because the cost of managing each and every application for internet access (which was done by MAC address
) was completely unsustainable. They finally decided, sensibly IMO, that giving line managers responsibility for what their staff did during hours was better and cheaper than running internet on a case by case basis. I would be surprised if this was a BAE-wide decision.
Another classic move by BAE security was barring ALL java applets with no warning when loads of business units were dependent on web sites that used Java. I'm sure their mantra was "a secure network is a useless network"![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Anyway, as BAE use proxy auto config files if you can get into your LAN settings on Internet Explorer make a note of the address of the .pac file it is using at the moment. It wouldn't surprise me if they don't just point you back to the old proxy. Then all you have to do is change it back!
(usual disclaimers about career limiting behaviour apply
)
