Paying tax (self assessment)

Yes it's a bit 11th hour, but I've just completed my self-assessment tax return. Well, I kinda cheated and used TaxCalc
. It's actually very easy! Anyway... now the calculation is done and I just need to file the return and make the payment. How do you actually pay? Can you send a cheque?

John
You should've registered to do it online - very simple & it works it all out for you. When it does, you can pay by debit/credit card.
Other ways to pay
Internet/Telephone Banking
Girobank
Post Office
By post (cheque)
Goto http://www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk & select How To Pay from the Self Assesment menu
In my case, there's a refund coming

I file my tax return the day after it arrives ![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
they tend to process them "faster" i.e. don't check them properly hence my £1500 a year cheque I get off them![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
<rubs hands - well I did in June>

Who's John?
I'll call the local tax office tomorrow and ask. That's probably the simplest solution. I'll probably send a cheque, I reckon.
Yes - next time I'll probably pay online! However it's too late to do that now (requesting a username takes >7 days).
