Try some mouse food from the local pet shop! They would eat seeds and so on in the wild rather than cheese!!

Mouse droppings are tiny (we're talking 2mm long and less than half a mm wide) and mouses are generally pretty quiet. I had mice living around the house for several years and never heard a thing. I found baiting a live trap with porridge oats worked very well.

Rats, on the other hand, are much noisier and have droppings 1 to 2 cm long and upto half a cm wide. And they love banana.

We had a problem with mice, I used Strawberry Kellogs Nutri Grain and they go mad for it.

Have you caught anything yet???

We've got something that is moving about at night as well.
I hear a scratching noise. I think its coming from the attic but then it sounds like its really near by!!
We've got an old house with plaster and lath walls and I'm convinced there is something in the wall. Am I mad or could there be??
Our attic is so full of stuff there could be anything living in there and we wouldn't know!

Mr.Scooby thinks its mice but I think its too loud for mice.
The scratch and clump about lol
Its really getting on my nerves now. I've got images of this great big rat making a hole in the wall and popping out!!!

(yes I know typical woman!)
We've put some traps but nothing has moved.

We had the same noises in my parents old house. Got a pest control fella in and he said it was rats from the droppings. He put some poisen pellets in the loft and the noises stopped a couple of days later. Never did find the dead rats!!!!

Oh, and bung the bottoms of your drainpipes with chicken wire to stop them crawling up and getting to the roof again.

oh gawd so you think its rats too
I can handle the thought of mice in the house but I'm not liking the idea of rats .... not one bit

If they are using the drain pipe to get in does that mean they could be coming up the toilet as well???

Just wondering how you got on Jimmy?

We put some philadelphia (???? we'd tried everything else!) on a trap the other night and we caught a big fat mouse!
We put some more traps but nothing since and I haven't heard anymore noise.

What are the chances of there only being one mouse??

Every chance of it being just the one

We had one live mouse scuttling round our kitchen over the weekend, I presume the cat brought it in and got fed up playing with it. She wasn't interested in recapturiing though, we finally caught it and returned it to the wild.

Our old neighbours had mice, they took a liking to soap, and ate that. But at home mum used the left over Celebrations that no-one liked!

I was wondering if you remembered the Port with the Stilton Jimmy. They can be very fussy, a thimbleful would make them forget any inhibitions!

This is a crackin thread, my old man used to put cheddar on the trap and then blast it a bit with the blowlamp to melt it a bit, made the cheese smell strongly and also made it harder to get off without springin the trap, he used to catch loads, vision of a family of mice with their belongings over their shoulders marchin off in a huff

You can borrow my bleeding cat if you like!

Dam thing kindly bought me a mouse this morning at 3am, placed it under my bed and then sat there playing with it till i woke up to it squeaking away and the cat growling at it! Chased said cat out of the bedroom with mouse in it's mouth and then the cat started the game all over again in the kitchen. Finally managed to corner the cat in the kitchen (with the aid of the dog, who was loving the opp to chase the cat with permission) and got the cat to spit the mouse out - too late the poor thing had died of shock so i chucked the cat out in the rain and locked the cat flap! Mice don't live long in my house!
