The language seems to evolve all the time and new words do pop up sometimes that are useful and of value but on other occasions, in my view, they are junk. A current favourite "new" word is "ongoing." I suspect that the inability of reporters to spell "continuing" has lead to the ongoing problem. :-)
Another that I've seen appear is "disassociate" and again semi literate apes speaking or writing in the media seem to use this on a regular basis. To say "disassociate" is something similar to saying "disreconnect" and I suspect the word they are searching for is dissociate. I also have a bad feeling that "disassociate" will eventually become recognised as a real word and it does, in fact, now make an appearance in some dictionaries.
It is the combination of boring old gits like myself and others who think it is great to use new, meaningless and made up words that make the language interesting and fun. In a few years time I will be writing to say that my ongoing problems with the new words have been resolved and I wish to disassociated myself from my past remarks. :-)
