Getting the all clear after having cancer twice, took 7 years to get that letter from my consultant, but was worth it, I have never been so emotional in my life

Davyboy, amongst other things mine was in my lymph nodes, they never used the word Hodgkins, or Cancer for that matter, apart from one consultant, who was a complete & uttter ****, had no manners, and said yes you can die, this will go wrong, that will go wrong etc etc, he never had one positive thing to say
However my 'real' consultant was an absolute star, my hero

picking up on whats already been mentioned above, my dad had cancer 7 years ago which tore me apart, non-hodgkins limphoma (spelling)!!
I took him to all his chemo visits and we played chess whilst he was on the drip. he`s been clear since, fingers crossed, touch wood etc, but one of the best days of my life was when we got the all clear at the hospital, my mum met us as we came out of the consultants room with a huge grin........my sister had just given birth to twins, two beautiful little girls
The perfect day, closely followed by my wedding day

I've walked away from one statistically non-survivable accident and woken up after three months (!) following another. No significant after effects from either except for one thing.
Every day when I wake up in the morning I'm happy to be alive.
Add that to a beautiful daughter with whom I have a great relationship and good friends and you'll understand when I say that being here is the best thing that's ever happened to me.

Yes agree with you there, I cannot get any life insurance anymore, been refused and now have to declare it every time
on saying that work have give me two years salary in death benefit, and this is enough to pay all my debts off

Okay i have to say 3 things and in order as follows:
1/ Birth of my daughter. An absolute humbling experience.
2/ Birth of my son. A chance to take in all the things you may have missed with the previous birth.
3/ Waking up after having 2 vertabrae (sp) fused together and 2 discs taken out of my neck. The joy of still being able to feel your legs and arms after the op gives you the full understanding that "If you haven't got your health, what have you got"

making a pile of money over night, well nearly overnight, ok its sad saying money is the best thing, but it really got me out of a few holes and allowed me to do some things I wouldnt have been able to contemplate, it also brought some peace of mind and security into my life which Id never had before

I think for us the best is yet to come.
We're expecting our first baby in a few months.
Reading how high up it is on your list of best things that have happened has really given me a lovely optimistic feeling. Thanks guys
As a few of you will have read in other posts the whole pregnancy has been touch and go. I've been pretty poorly and spent a lot of time in hospital. You never appreciate your health till it’s threatened.
I feel like I've been given a real chance at life now.
All the things I used to worry about have certainly been put into perspective.
We've got so much to be thankful for and soon we're going to have a whole new life of adventures with our new little baby. I still can’t quite believe its going to happen.
I know I've still got 13 weeks to go, but I've got this far I'm sure we can make it.
I could carry on with this post but I think I'll stop now because all these pregnancy hormones don't half make you wanna share your emotions with everyone.... whether they wanna hear it or not!!!
Great thread though
Its good to remind each other what we have to be thankful for.
Everyone has trials in their life at some time and its great to share some of each others experiences.
I think thats what’s great about scoobynet

Not a high point in my life so far. then again i'm 22, so there's enough tiime for something extraordinary to happen to me(unless i get hit by a bus/train/lightning first). Some good things happened to me but I can't say that I was gobsmacked(in a good way). What really makes me feel good though is helping people and seeing a change in them, till now nothing can beat that feeling. If I can't cause something good in my life, at least I try to cause it in other people's lives.
