Unhappy What would you do.....?

So the scoob was sold due to circumstance changes and the following happened ........

Bought replacement car from local independent dealer 30 miles away at the weekend.... ok so it's a ford but it's cheap and will only be for a year max

Came with warranty so after I checked it out and brief test drive all seemd fine. Piad in cash got nice discount... blah blah

So driving home .. starts spluttering... hmmmmm

Rather than turning back in the heavy snow I pop into Halfords and buy plugs, HT leads filter etc and do it myself (parts that cheap thatI didn't really bother as would of probably changed them anyway with any new car).

Finds about an inch of water around every plug !!!!

So reckoned that either the dude that steam cleaned the engine prior to sale was a bit over zealous or that it'd been lying for ages and just heavily condensated.

So all runs well.....

So... put's a CD in when I get home and E12 error, CD won't play

So...buy's a CD cleaner, still won't play

Then finds that the car has a conveniently intermittent central locking fault so the heap of **** won't lock itself until you try for around 10-20 mins until you get lucky

Then this morning I get the warranty through from the dealer and guess what... I've got ot pay the feckin postage as it was too heavy for the poxy 1st class stamp they put on it...

Phoned the dealer this morning and yup... the boss is away until Monday ...

None of the defects warrant an exchange as the car is roadworthy (checked my rights !) BUT I obviously ain't happy and just wondering who has any ideas on what the best (and most potentially successful) course of action would be !!!

Thanks in advance and don't bother with the ford jokes as I've made them all myself and am pretty gutted at not having the scoob anymore.. so you have been warned

make a list of faults and arrange to leave it back and have a free loan car until they are all rectified - If he sold it to you with CD player and central locking then if it doesn't have a working CD player and central locking you could return it as the goods are not 'as described.' Find a copy of the sale of goods act from the net and quote random pieces to the garage - always works a treat

Nightmare mate Give it to them tight - the car clearly has many things wrong with it that should have been identified and fixed prior to them handing the car over to you. Bet that warranty has more holes in it than the titanic as well

The best warranty is the world is knowing where the previous owner lives.....ain't that right John

Punched lots of little holes down the side of the hull did it not - this is how water got into the first 5 compartments. Had she hit the berg head on it would have only flooded 1-2 compartments and as such she could stay afloat - albeit she'd be a mess! The ship was regarded as unsinkable in this regard but nobody considered something scoring right the way down the side

IIRC it was one long gash down almost half the side

Cheers Kenny

They'll get it tight all right .....

Auto electrician has just called and was almost apologetic on behalf of the dealer

I'll just hold tight and in the meantime hopefully someone will steal the heap of steaming turd as it lies open....

Reg No *** AGD

and it's parked usually ....

Still have to ask which one she means though! Besides she doesn't ask, she just helps herself

Topic? Topic? There is a topic???

Oh yeah
What would you do.....?
Think were discussing that...would you do...the front hole, back hole or the mouth

That aside, give the dealer some stick and get them to sort it!

Sorry buddy What I'd do about it is post up the details of my situation on www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs and see what people on there would do as they seem friendly, helpful and knowledgable
