With Multi-region DVD players so cheap, why would you want the grief of converting films?
£29.95 for a Multi-region DVD player from Richer Sounds!

Yeah that thing would play a DVD, but if you have a half decent set-up it is going to be so crap as to be unbeliveable.

Any DVD player (therfore yours) can be converted to multi-region. My one just needed a code typed in with the remote - you just need to know how to do it. Your dealer might be able to help if it's not Currys or one of the mainstream ones - go and see a proper hi-fi shop.

It's not worth doing the copying the DVD thing, far easier, as others have said, to hack the dvd player, if possible, to make it multi-region, or purchase a multiregion dvd player.

theres actualy lots of options, the chepest is to hack your dvd player and make it region free, I also believe that with a new program that has just been put on the market you can choose the region code. that is dvd x copy platinum, I use the gold version to "backup" my films, and its excellent.
if you put your dvd players make and unit number ile find you a hack to make it region free.

1) Convert your player to multi-region (Look up your player: here)
2) Buy a new multiregion DVD player (from as little as £30)
3) Sell your DVD's and buy them on region 2
4) Buy a DVD writer and associated software, convert and re-burn them (from about £100 + media)
As a side issue not all players can be converted to multiregion by a remote hack. Some require different remote controls, some need plug in modules, some need a new chip soldered into the board and there are others that can not be converted!

I disagree that a 'cheaper' player is crap!
I had a Pioneer DVL-919 LaserDisc/DVD player (converted to multi-region) which had a retail value of over £900 when they were first released. It had a Dolby Digital decoder, etc on board (which was rare at the time) and I thought the quality was fantastic.
I sold it not too long ago and bought a Yamada DV-2000 DVD player (to give me MP3, SVCD & photoCD functions) for £65.
I found the picture quality much better than the Pioneer!
I don't have a huge set up, but connected up to my Sony 930B AV amp and Yahama 5.1 speakers, it seems to give a good and cost effective setup!
No it won't win awards, but certainly better than a majority of people!
Not quite a Subaru, but by no means a Saxo! (As a side issue, I don't want another Impreza, neither do I want a Saxo! - Like my setup I'll make do with cheap fun! )
