Where to stay in Paris - General areas...
Going Paris for a weekend soon and baffled as to where to stay!
We want to see the usual sights, eiffel, museums, gallerys etc and would also like to go to a few trendy bars/clubs too at night.
Can anyone reccomend where to stay, or even hotels if you know any. Not too expensive mind
Cheers

Ok - you need to stay around Notre Dame / concorde area - pretty central
What's your budget ? <£100 is the Grand Hotel Champaigne - pretty well furnished but dropping apart (quite cool actually). Or for over £200 stay at the Relais Christine - the hotel bar is an "honesty bar" - i.e. help your self and put the money in a pot...

Try www.lastminute.com Went to Paris in December and got a cheap hotel with them in the Trocadero area, just round the corner from the Eiffel Tower.. the Metro's easy to work out from the maps just like the Tube...

Try to stay on the left bank if possible, the 5th or 6th arrondissements. When I lived there my relatives would use a reasonable hotel on the 'Rue de ecoles' called Hôtel Moderne Saint-Germain about €100 a night.
Do the usual tourist stuff- but also take a boat ride on the Bateaux Mouche it's a great way to see the architectural highlights. The catacombs, Musee D'Orsay and even Tour Montparnasse (you can look down on the Eiffel Tower) are worth a visit.
If you are feeling brave or reckless then hire a Smart Car from Easy rental on Champs Elysees for €11 a day and drive round the place yourself.
