Ok - you need to stay around Notre Dame / concorde area - pretty central

What's your budget ? <£100 is the Grand Hotel Champaigne - pretty well furnished but dropping apart (quite cool actually). Or for over £200 stay at the Relais Christine - the hotel bar is an "honesty bar" - i.e. help your self and put the money in a pot...

Try to stay on the left bank if possible, the 5th or 6th arrondissements. When I lived there my relatives would use a reasonable hotel on the 'Rue de ecoles' called Hôtel Moderne Saint-Germain about €100 a night.

Do the usual tourist stuff- but also take a boat ride on the Bateaux Mouche it's a great way to see the architectural highlights. The catacombs, Musee D'Orsay and even Tour Montparnasse (you can look down on the Eiffel Tower) are worth a visit.

If you are feeling brave or reckless then hire a Smart Car from Easy rental on Champs Elysees for €11 a day and drive round the place yourself.
