Just noticed that the Film 'To Live and Die in LA' is starting at 11pm on Ch4 it is reputed to have one of the best car chases ever filmed.
William Defoe and a few other notables such as Dean Stockwell are in this tale of high living and fast dieing. A tale of Counterfeit Money, FBI undercover agents, intrigue, Mystery and Murder which is set against the back drop of LA.
Great flick from the Eightys

The car chase in the Blues Brothers is nothing special, the pile up, now that's something different. Was the biggest car pile up in film history when it was done

The Original 1970's "Gone in 60 secs" (not the Vinny Jones bullsiht) was a classic. If you ever get a chance to see it just watch the chase at the end, as the rest of the movie was rather crap.

Ronin is a great chase... except De Niro doesn't look like he can drive properly! Seems to have a "I'm scared of driving" look as opposed to being psyched up for a chase.
Personally I enjoy the chase in The Rock, and for non-films... the M5 advert with Madonna and Clive Owen is pretty damn fine!

As for Ronin - one of the most forgettable and over-hyped films I've ever seen. I think there was something to do with a rocket launcher, but, er, what car chase?

Ronin had a Merc 450 SEL 6.9 in it. Nuff said.
To be fair the plot is pretty bad though.
And the reason Robert DeNiro looks scared in the scenes with the 406? The stunt cars were right hand drive with a fake steering wheel mounted on the left for DeNiro. The stunt driver in the left hand seat doing the scenes for real, DeNiro has only a fake steering wheel to hold onto. That would be enough to scare me...
