Booked a meal in our usual Thai restaurant, nothing said at the time off booking by them, arrived to find it was a set menu. Nothing on there we would really have chosen if we had been given a free choice and cost twice as much as we would normally pay there.

We decided to skip the gifts this year and just sent each other a card. It is a blatent attempt by card shops/florists to make money. The whole day is just a big commercial exercise now.

No danger of ever forgetting a date the misses considers important, the hints start about 4 weeks before hand, 8 in the case of her birthday and get less and less subtle

Surely the answer is "everyone" as the whole charade is just a load of commercialised nonsense? I got stiffed for the £68 roses from Interflora who must be quite traumatised now as to what to do with all the piles of cash they have stacked up by now, plus an **** tightening bill from a posh restaurant which was stuffed to the rafters - the waiters were too rushed to give you any service, the tables were too close together for any privacy (though we had the added entertainment of a couple next to us rowing about the fact that they don't "do it" often enough!!) and a set menu which was good but not great.

Try explaining the logic of taking all the money spent and putting it towards a weekend break in Europe on any other weekend of the year to the boss and let me know how you get on. I got as far as the "you know, what we could do....." bit before I got that glare which only means one thing....

Just to rub it in a bit, my wife use to work as a florist and can reveal that roses come in bunches of twenties when you buy from the wholesaler.
The cost ? - Anywhere between £8 to £15 - for 20 dutch roses.

How Intaflora charge nearly 70 sovs for 12 roses is beyond a joke !!

Unhappy

I made subtle hints about the Evotraction day at Oulton park and got
"the look"

then stressed all friday afternoon and took my life into my hands by purchasing her a new handbag (i had noted the hints from previous weeks) shelled out some dough on something called a "Fendi clutch bag" - dont ask i though a clutch needed to be triple plated to be any good -

all i got in return a small cuddly dog toy which i now have to display somewhere prominent so i'm not accused of not liking it.

Then had to ply her wiht wine aswell

Bad deal in my book !! :0
