How to put your foot in it..SiPie style !
Picture the scene..
Myself and the good lady visiting her friends (me for the first time so on best behaviour )
So..it's all general baby chat zzzZZzzZZZzzzZ etc as wife is only there and then just as we are ready to leave and saying our goodbye's to her at the front door, her hubby shows up in his DBM impreza turbo ....
I get introduced ...quick chat.. then the conversation goes a bit like this:
Si..
Nice car mate
Hubby of g/f's pal (ned for short)
Aye man, it's a feckin beauty, I'm going to do XYZ to it, get a feckin flamer kit, slammed, 25" gold 90spoke wheels, mental 9,000 bhp on it's way blah blah and an induction kit
Si..
I see you've got Northern Irish plates on, what year is the car?
Ned
It's a feckin' 1999
Si..
Wouldn't get an induction kit as the MAF sensor's are a bit sensitive and you could seriously ruin your engine. I'd go for a dry panel filter, such as Green Cotton or an STI original...just stay away from induction kits if you value your engine unless you don't have a MAF
Ned
Nae worries mate ye ken, cheers n that
So...... we get home and the phone is literally ringing
Ned's wife on the phone
Hi it's Ned's wife here...it was nice to meet you Si...but thanks a feckin' lot... I've just bought Ned an induction kit for his birthday as he's been going on about it for ages and what the **** am I going to do with it now...?
Oooops

ROTFLMAO Very funny mate
Phone her back and tell her to swap it for a dawes. If his attitude to tuning is as you describe it'll take him all of 5 minutes to blow his engine up with one of those
