![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I have had one for some time now.
Went towards a traffic "rip-off" van yesterday and it didnt give me any warning??
Are they supposed to work against these vans with that round widget on the side or is that only against hand held lasers??

A laser speed gun, only produces a beam of light (not visable) approx 18" diameter at 200yds. They will typically shine the gun on the numberplate or a headlight.
With this in mind, the idea of having a laser detector in your windscreen is flawed, as it is very unlikely it will ever be illuminated by the gun's beam.
That's why having a detector fitted on your bumper and/or radiator grill is a far better idea.
I have a roadangel, but don't use it's laser capability for this reason. I use a LRC100 mounted lower down on the front of the car for this purpose.
Mind you that won't stop rear facing speedtraps, vascar, unmarket cars, etc etc.....

By the time Road Angel detects the laser they will have got a speed reading, so unless you have a laser jammer or get lucky with the laser beam bouncing off the car in front it will be too late to react.

Yes,you can buy a special connector to join the two together BUT i was advised against it because..
1./ if you lose power to the Road Angel then the LRC100 also stops working
2./ The warning speaker that comes with the LRC100 is louder than the one in the Road Angel.
I have both of the above plus a BEL550,which are all seperatley wired and fused just incase.![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

2. Even if you dont hear the speaker then the red flashing light on the RA is a bit of a give away.
There is a group buy for the LRC100 (now called the L1) running at the moment. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=306846

Rember it states this detector " detects x, k, ku, etc, etc , etc " !!! since only k-band/ laser is useds within the uk, unless these other bands are able to be switched off, you will be constantly bombarded with false alerts !!! to the point where you will end up switching the detector off !!
