If you consider some of the ideas the government have come up with of late: £1000 for uneconomical cars, charging falsely accused prisoners, etc, etc it makes me think they are actually TRYING to get booted out??? I'm not into my Politics but some of the proposals I've read in the papers, SN, etc by the current Government are so illogical and/or unpopular that I'm led to believe they must be trying to get the boot. Or are they just stupid???

We will never ever have a government that will satisfy the wants of the country as a whole. But what I can't understand is why folk like PSLewis are always bigging Labour up?! Surely if he was presented with all the **** up's and bad choices of the labour government to date collated , which I believe would amount to, several pages worth of events, he would swallow his pride and admit to it! Surely he must have some sort of fear that the country is going downhill rapidly?! I do!!!
It is this minority that make Labour believe they are doing the right thing!!!

Suspect they realise they are overspending and can't balance the books so trying to get themseleves voted out before it all comes crashing down by coming up with some really silly ideas. Let the Tories in for the big bang, give then 4 years to sort it out then try and get back in and mess it all up again.
Nothing has changed since the last time these muppets got in, we'll improve everything but won't put up taxes. Hmmm we are spending too much, ahh now we really are in the **** on finance, better slip a few more taxes in there...people have short memories

They are lazy and shortsighted. Instead of trying to get to the root causes of why year on year it costs us more to get less they just want us to shut up and pay for it. They will continue to rape the average upstanding citizen until such a time as it becomes easier to get it from elsewhere.

maybe.
or maybe the media is just better now than previous years... and even tho this government may only have screwed up equally as badly as previous governments, they just end up with more press.
ripping on the govt seems more popular these days and therefore will sell more newspapers.
my take is that its that the government are just taking the **** more and more... because they can. i think its got worse and worse since the petrol strikes a few years ago, where the govt pretty much said "no we won't reduce taxes" and the strikers said "oh ok then" due to public pressure. from this point on, this govt knew they could pretty much do whatever they wanted and stay in power (as they did).

I'm starting to think like Olly - its a bit like peeps that sell their car when the *know* something is going to go wrong soon. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the torries get in, find the country in a real mess that they can't fix without p!ssing everyone off and then Labour point the big finger of blame

Another vote for arrogance here...
May be true, but they bought it on themselves. I did a dissertation for my degree on Labour's use (manipulation) of the media prior to their 1st election victory. Our politics was definitely heading down this route anyway (personality over policy, style over content, presidential politics) but they accelerated this trend.
As has been mentioned, we will never be happy. Every government at some stage loses the plot over something (in the view of the public) - but thats not to say that there shouldnt be change.
I just hope that when it comes round to election time, a) the public are actually motivated to vote and b) they stop bending over and taking it from President B-liar and actually use their vote wisely.

I know what you mean. Olly has it right in saying people have short memories, I reckon Tories will be back in next term, Labour the term after that.
For the country to bring itself back up to speed and to it's possible potential will take more than 4 years. I say we let the tories in and give them a proper shot at it.
