Head unit - POP! - Guarantee?

Head unit - POP! - Guarantee?
Bought a head unit from Argos in January, and its just gone Pop! I know it wasn't the car, as no fuses blew, and another head unit works fine.
In fact, the head unit still powers up - but there is no audio on any channel.
Before I crack it open and look for an internal fuse, I was wondering about guarantees etc. Should I still be able to take it back for an exchange?
What are my rights on this one?
Thanks guys!
Damian

Take it back, with the receipt, and they'll send it for repair. It's probably too old to get an exchange there & then. Don't open it up or you will void the warranty.
It sounds like a transistor has failed - there are unlikely to be any visible signs, so unless you know what you're doing you'll have difficulty identifying the fault and obtaining replacement parts. It failed for a reason, so that needs to be identified and fixed too or it'll just pop again.
Best to take it back and get it sorted by a technician - sorry
