One of my work collegues just told me that his missus has been diagnosed with MS.
Apparently the doctors have known about it for three years and failed to tell her.
V S**ty I know, but the reason for this thread is:
Can anyone offer any useful advice I can give her?
Any websites, books, anything that'll help.
I've heard that she should cut out caffine - Is this true?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Bonehead
Sorry to hear your news, my father had it real bad, but it is one of those diseases that has so many levels, it can go from a sufferer leading a normal life with the odd bad day to another sufferer being bed ridden and totally finished, my father was a guinea pig for various drug tests in the early 90's, one that put him in a coma for 3 days, scarey stuff!!!
Marajuana worked better than anything they tried, until his immune system became used to it and it then had no effect at all, you can't imagine seing a man who couldn't straighten his legs either of his own volition or with help from someone else, for two years, give them a joint and he was as floppy as anything, for a while I thought i'd killed him, didn't smoke weed so had no idea what it did to you, but he felt great for many months until as I say his immune system recognised it and it no longer had any effect, but this was the case of my father, no two MS cases are the same, it destroyed his immune system, and as I say that is not the case for everyone, I don't want to scare you or your colleague, I could bore your with a long thread, about the drugs/hospitals/physio and so on, but it is such an individual disease it is best to get in touch with the local MS society and discuss where they're at.
Diet was an important factor, If i remember rightly grilled Chicken is a very important part of the diet, it was back in the 90's, since then my dad has passed on and my knowledge of the disease is at a minimum.
The one thing she must never lose is her spirit, keep positive, and all the best to your colleague and his wife. Its a shame because MS gets so little publicity, and so few know of it and what it an do to sufferers.
