Just curious if anyone has had a scratch repaired by them,or any other of these type of repairers.
I guess it depends on if its just the laquer or down to the primer.
How does it work and what do they do?

not chips away put a company call sprintfinish(in the yellow pages). i had a crack in the paint. the guy rubbed down the area where it was cracked and the used a airbrush to paint the area that was rubbed down. did an excellent job. the guy that did mine was a spraypainter by trade so that might have helped a bit. they won't work on rusted areas though.

I've used Chips Away, but the main work was the front spoiler and rear bumper (Legacy Estate). The damage to the rear bumper was a scratch that had dug a small trench in the plastic - caused by pulling a heavy suitcase with a wire protruding from its reinforcement - out the back of the car.
The guy firstly filled this and used a heater to cure the filling, before rubbing it down and airbrushing the paint on to the area. Paint mixed in the back of the van using his "recipe book" and the paint code on the car's identification plate.
I was very happy with the result, but the quality of the repair depends on who does the job. (I think) Anyone can buy a franchise and go through the training and be let loose on the public immediately after.

Agree with what's said, I had a 4-inch bumper split & scrape (down to the plastic) done a year ago (Macclesfield). Top job, £75 all in. I sold the car shortly afterward and the repair probably paid for itself many times over by avoiding haggling with buyers ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Bodyshop quote was £400+ for a new bumper skin![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
They all do free quotes -- they'll usually come to you and tell you if they can make an invisible repair etc.
I've seen some reports that the repairs start to become noticable again after a few months but that probably depends on where the repair is, how big it was etc.
