![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Does anyone have any experience of the add-on lenses available for the A70? I believe there are 2 Canon ones - a telephoto (2.4x) and a wide-angle, both with a 52mm thread.
I have the adaptor already, and am wondering what other lenses are out there that would work? They'd obviously need to have the 52mm thread for attachment... but I assume you can't simply bolt on any old SLR lens, as the camera doesn't work that way.
I have read about a 37mm adaptor available in the States, and that you can attach a monoscope lens to it. I think it's called CrystalVue - but forums mention bad vignetting(sp?).
Anyone?

Hi Duck Pond
There tele-convertors, i've been looking at the same things for my Dimage 7, things i've been told to look out for are weight, and what there made from, sure Andy (Hi
) i'll be along in a mo to tell you more than i possibly could.
On an SLR be it film or digital the convertor goes between lense and camera![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I've tried the Canon 2.4x tele, & it causes severe vignetting on my Sony S75. I'm not sure whether u'll get it with the A70 or not.
Apart from that, u may get more purple fringing with these converters.

Actually I know nothing about these bolt-on converters. I've never used one. But, a few things to bear in mind are:
- most cameras are already limited by the quality of their lenses, so adding more glass can only have a detrimental effect on image quality.
- however, having the TC will let you capture images that you couldn't get at all without them, so on balance that's a huge benefit. You can't nit-pick the technical quality of an image that doesn't exist!
- the purple fringing to which Si is referring is chromatic abberation in this case, and it's caused by prism-like behaviour in the lenses. Even a perfect TC will make it worse, because all it's doing is magnifying the image (including the defects) that's already there.
I say go for it, if you want one. Any picture is better than no picture at all!
Si: work keeps me in cameras and engines
