Good for me - I have a crappy pension with them and will get a couple of grand out of it. It will also make them more responsible to the people who have an interest in their performance. If they had demutualised in 2001 each member would have got between 6 and 10 k, but the half a dozen peeps at the top thought that was a bad idea

I wouldn't count your chickens just yet. I reckon they will be pretty cautious on their market valuation and therefore the payouts to policyholders are likely to lower than anticipated. As Tiggs says, it is probably unavoidable. I wouldn't go spending the windfall just yet.
