Digital Cameras
Baby due on Wednesday, so thought it was a good time to convince Mrs First that our lives are crying out for digital technology.
Question is what should I buy. Budget is not bottomless, £500 is the absolute top, although I hope I won't need to spend it.
Anyone bought one recently that they love or hate, there is apparently a very compact Sony camera on the market at the moment for around £400, no idea about it from a technical perspective, but I like small (don't tell the wife!), and I have a Sony Digicam that I am very happy with.
Grateful for any pointers, really would like to be able to pop down the highstreet tomorrow or Tuesday, and pick one up, and don't want to fall victim to Sales Talk.
TIA

On my third digital camera now.
Recently purchased the Casio qv-r51 a nice compact 5 megapixel camera. Purchased from pc world with a 128mb secure digital card and a case for £299. Been very pleased with it and can recommend it.
Can email you a picture from it if you want mancamefirst. Our cameras have also been for the new arrivals photo's, hes now one. Ive just stepped up from a fuji 401 and a Sony p7. Wanted the higher quality to blow the photos up.

Thanks for the advice guys.
Bought a Sony DSC T1 this after from a local Dixons. £399, included a 128Mb Duo stick, and a rather dodgy leather carry case.
Got the stick and the case for nowt, (though I think they should have paid me to take the case) think they might have forgotten to ring the Duo stick thing up, I forgot to mention it!

Exilim's have a very poor viewfinder although they do have a huge LCD to make up for it. Pentax Optio S4i is a better alrounder though and similar priced.
