Default Good Price hotel in London for this Saturday night?

Got a college coming over from the US for some training, and he wants to visit London over the weekend since he's never been to the UK before. Can anyone recommend a decent, cheapish hotel near the centre of things (I'm thinking within Zone 1, but not too sure as I don't visit very often)? Any area's to avoid / aim for?

Cheers

Thistle hotel on tower bridge is not bad, think i paid £100 for a double room over looking the thames (looking for brownie points) included breakkie, reasonably close to most things.

Other hotels, depending on budgets, thistle piccadilly, hilton on park lane, four seasons park lane, intercontinental hyde park.

Depends how much you want to spend really, got a budget?

Covent Garden any good?

They have rooms for this saturday at:

£75 per room per night (single room)
£75 per room per night (double room)

No twin rooms available

It would have been £25 per room per night with at least 6 days notice!

He's been checking priceline.co.uk and has the following area's receomended mayfair-soho and notting hill. No idea what these places are like myself...

Thanks Chris. I'll take a look.

Andy, I've only been there once, but it's a good suggestion. I know the TravelLodges are good value.

Cheers all

Lastminute do a fair few deals for London - stayed at the Radisson Edwardian Sussex (just off Oxford Street) over Easter £95 for a superior double or £65 for a standard double

Was very nice too
