Quote "Not only is it near impossible to control a car at such a ridiculous speed it is beggars belief that they were on a mobile phone at the time."

Sure it maybe becoming socially unacceptable, but the first part "Not only is it near impossible to control a car at such a ridiculous speed" is ludicrous - there'd be a lot more very high speed accidents if that were the case.
Doing it while on the phone does however beggar belief as per the above quote.

"It's absolute madness to drive at that speed and there can be no possible excuse for it."
How about, because it's fun?

It can't be practically impossible. They have just told you he did it with one hand and having a conversation. Plus its less than a half faster than that chief constable on the thread mentioned earlier.

"Driving a car at that speed carries the same danger as discharging a shotgun in a crowded street."

huh? A somewhat tenuous link, I think.

No problem - steer with your knees.

Yup. And behind my back, under a leg and holding it over my head too - the real skill is loading single handed!

Seriously though, that article has some pretty transparent hype by the police there, and a guy is going to lose his freedom over this. Ban him for a year instead, and keep the cell free for a REAL criminal.

Arnie can do it in terminator 2, so it must be fairly easy.

150mph through a built up area - justified jail sentence.

150mph on dual carriageway in middle of knowhere is ban and big fine IMHO.

Would have loved to see a transcript of the conversation on the mobile.

"Its your wife here, if you are not home in 10 mins my legs will be crossed and you will have to go see pam and her five sisters."
