Taken from www.blackspot.com

How much warning does LASER ALERT give me?
LASER ALERT can detect a signal beyond the operational range of a laser gun. The further away from the source the more likely you are to detect a signal as the beam emitted is conical and becomes wider over distance.

Was thinking of getting one off ebay myself, usually go for about 250.

The beam has a very low divergence but does scatter when it hits the target (it needs too so it can be picked up by the gun).
Essentially you may pick up a stray beam when near a laser site, but they also travel well so you might pick up a site from quite a distance.
Even if you do, it will probably be a fleeting signal, all you can do then is drive carefully as it almost certainly won't go off when you are actually targetted.

My detector goes off occasionally and I almost never find the source, but I has once

The laser detector on my B2 went off the other day but only when i was directly targetted (on the M4).

The detector is in the top middle of my screen, near the mirror. I saw the plod miles away as they weren't hiding this time, absolutely nothing on the detector until i was about 200 to 300 meters away then a nice big signal. There were a few cars a little way ahead of me and i didn't pick up any reflections or scatter from them. It only went off when the Janitor pointed the gun directly at my Scoob, so wouldn't have helped if i'd been speeding.

Hardly an exhaustive test but i think you'd be lucky to get enough warning to slow down in time, unless you have an LRC100...

Is the LRC100 legal?

Just wondering if anyone has had any problems.

Default hit and miss

I’ve had a road angel for just under a year now and passed lots of camera vans. I think the unit has only informed me about a mobile trap once. The laser beam is so tiny it makes it difficult to detect. UK speed traps did a test on the laser alert unit. www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk .
