Food Processor recommendations please!
Calling all the chefs - amateurs like me and pros too
Our old Moulinex has given up the ghost and gone to the great kitchen in the sky...it wasn't particularly good anyway but now I need to get a new one. The range out there is a lot bigger than I thought - Braun, Kruups, Phillips, Moulinex, Tefal...the list goes on and on.
I'm looking for something quite powerful with a couple of litres capacity.
Recommendations please ! You did SN proud when I asked about kitchen knives so I'm sure you'll come back with some good answers.
TIA

the in-laws gave us one of these braun things a few years ago. it has it's good points:
robust
versatile
but it's a bit difficult to clean, and it comes with so many attachments; most of which i still have never needed or even figured out how to use.

Thanks PC. I was looking at a Braun yesterday - about half the size of the one in your picture and it might be enough for us. Decisions, decisions...

Braun, Kruups, Phillips, Moulinex, Tefal and plenty more manufacturers......... I was a service agent for all these for about 12 years, they are nearly all made by 12 yr olds for a bowl of rice half way up the Yanzi River.
Magimix are the best make to get, they have a 5 year g/tee and should last much longer than that, not cheap though but worth it

The missus just bought a Kenwood chef, which is a really well engineered piece of kit. It's designed to be serviceable, has loads of accessories and the latest models look great. Performance can't be faulted.
The downside? 300 quid.

Just look in your local ads. You can pick up a Kenwood Chef for £20 easily. And what's more, it's likely that it's never been used (or at worst used only once).

We've had a Magimix (I think it's a Cuisine 4000) for a few years, and it's had a lot of use. It cost about £150 but has been excellent. I think you're paying for the excellent motor and blade - it's an induction motor so has no speed control, but the motor just draws more current to drive harder if the resistance increases. The main bowl has just cracked (handle coming off) but after the use it's had, I'm not too upset, and it'll be easily replaced.

Thanks guys. Guess I've got a bit more shopping around to do. The Magimix sounds robust enough so I'll have a hunt around to see what their range is like.
