Getting from Chester to Abingdon
Hi peeps,
Just hoping someone can help here. Im looking to get from Chester to Abingdon on Thursday for a course. However the options are limited:
1) Train - I dont want to have to get the train at 4.30.
2) Car - I dont want to use the scoob as it would cost a fortune.
So are there any flights from say liverpool to Oxford. I've searched but I cant find any, other ideas appreciated
Cheers

You wont be able to fly into Kidlington airport from anywhere (unless you charter your own plane) and even if you could its a good distance from Abingdon.
Rent a cheap little car from your local rental firm. I was looking at Oxford to Dundee, Scotland earlier and its cheaper to rent a Vectra diesel with cruise control for 2 days than it is to take a plane/train.

Well I do get 40p a mile, but I dont fancy the long drive thats all. My sense of direction is like a homing pigeon on LSD ! Oh and I love to fly
Cheers anyway guys ! As for a tank and a bit, well I get on average 150 to the tank. ;(

Piece of pi$$ getting to Abingdon from Chester. M6 south across the top of Brum. M42 south past the NEC. M40 towards London. Take J9 south and Abingdon is just down the road.......
At 150 per tank I suggest you curb your right foot on the M'ways ... :-)

Manchester to Bristol for £not much.
Or Easyjet L'pool to Luton.
They're the best flying ideas I can think of for you.
Have fun!

I live near Chester, and used to work in Abingdon, so done that journey a fair few times. From what I remember, getting there by train is a pain in the bum, one journey took me 5 hours to get home because of cancelled trains etc. Getting there by car isn't too bad (compared to some of the journeys I've done), the roads are dead simple but you've just got to make sure that you don't get caught in traffic around Birmingham and then on the A34 in rush hour. Used to take me about 3 1/2 hours to get there and about the same to get home.
At the time I had a saxo VTS (I was only 20), and used to be able to do there and back on a full tank, £35. As if that'd happen in the scoob.
Plus you do get to go past prodrive if you drive.
