The presenters were being interviewed (except Clarky) on Radio two last week and Richard was talking about Jordans driving and slipped out "Steve said her driving was...." so the stig could be Steve...er (tries to think of racing/test driver called steve) .

Well I think it's Steve anyway

They keep it very quiet, thats why perry mccarthy was killed off. Everyone knew who the stig was.

If the new ones found out, they'll change it again.

Steve sounds awfully like Stig though via the radio in particular if you aren't necessarily concentrating.

Just a thought.

Steve Soper is the British driver most closely associated with BMWs. It's ironic that his career was ended in 2001 in a Peugeot 406 Coupe, sustaining a severe neck injury after crunching into the barrier during a BTCC race at Brands Hatch.

His time is now mostly taken up running his (BMW, of course) dealership, Soper of Lincoln. Providing brief distraction, we've now returned him to his preferred environment, a track with a comprehensive selection of M cars waiting to be thrashed. He'll be setting lap times and rating each based on which car's driving experience best matches up to his memories and, in the M3 CSL's case, his expectations.

Although it was taken from the Top Gear site so maybe a little too obvious?

I just noticed that the words:
Jordan's driving and slipped out
Should not be in the same sentance.

Sorry....must be my sick mind LOL

He definetly said Steve, which is why I remember it. As I thought who TF is Steve?? Perhaps he meant Stig, or is Stig called Steve. Or Steve is a member of the production team.

Anyone fancy looking through the credits for a Steve or Stephen??

...... this is starting to get sad!!!

Steve Parrish perhaps, he already works for the BBC doing bike racing commentary and he is quite handy in a truck or on a bike. Dunno about in a car though.

The new regular Stig didn't drive the SLR - that was Colin Goodwin who has done a vast amount of the development work on the car.
I guess Ron wouldn't release them a car unless he could be sure it would top the times (well one McLaren had to this season...). Shame the Carrera GT went and spoilt it the next week!

This season's stig is not the same as last season's (series 2) IMO. His style is a lot more controlled. Plus he's not so erratic when catching oversteery slides
