White Lion (Crays Pond) is excellent (http://www.innastew.com/)
Riccis on the the Green (Woodcote)
Peking Garden (Pangbourne)
Beetle & Wedge is good for a special one (http://www.beetleandwedge.co.uk) Boathouse not the main bit as it's stuffy

white lion.....very good (not eaten there since my gran worked there about 10 years ago!)

then tried the bel and dragon- new place in Reading behind the flats near the gas works.....all very nice- sort of TGI's atmosphere but too pricey for scum bags.
food was ok but no way near The Riverside standard.

Keep quiet about the White Lion or I'll never get a table again

Go to Bengal Reef quite often for a curry, that's just near the George Hotel.
Also on one street which you can see from the station there is a Chinese on the 1st floor and a Thai on the 2nd. The Thai is superb.

I quite like Kei's Peking in Lower Earley. Nice food and although a tidy place they do all you can eat for £16 on sun and monday (not a buffet just order from menu).

Miah's in Spencers Wood for an Indian, although maybe a little south for you.

Im in earley so spencers wood is fine.

Riverside used to be Chronicles....as you go towards the caversham bridge roundabout you have the hoilday inn on the left side of the bridge and the riverside is on the right.

its small but never busy and serves great food (only downside is its rich food so if you can do 3 courses your going some!)

for me its a perfect commbo of casual and posh.....ie. the food is pricey which means its good and it keeps the chavs out but the place is quite relaxed.
