Default Dumped car, no tax, blocking my driveway!!

Guys,

Need some advice.

Some T****r has left their car right over the front of my driveway, since yesterday.

I have to drive over the neighbours driveway to get there, and thats only if said neighbours car is not there!

Phoned the Police and the local council, searched on the web etc, but no joy.

What can I do to get this moved asap?

Police say they are not interested, council 'might' be able to get someone there by Tuesday. What a pain in the ar$e!

Asif

lets hope someone breaks in and releases the handbreak a bit for you

Obviously wrong to do it yourself though.....

Sprinkle some white powder into the car, then call the drug squad If that was me I'd drag it out the way. I cant stand people like that

The standpoint of our local council (Swindon) is that if an abandoned/dumped car has broken windows, then it's a hazard to any young children who might play in it and get hurt. Also the police are much more interested if it's 'obstructing the highway'.

So if you came out one morning to find it minus all of it's windows, and it had been dragged/pushed so it was blocking a road - then chances are it'd be moved sooner.

Not that i'm suggesting you do anything underhand/illegal you understand.

LOL

I'd have to smash a window in order to do that. Very tempting but no.

Unfortunately, with the way my road, driveway, etc is, it would be difficult to move it myself into a safe spot, out of everyone else's way.

As soon as the steering lock comes on, if not on already, there is no hope of moving it safely.

I just want the otherwise seemingly car obsessed authorities to come and move an illegally parked (On the kerb/single yellow) untaxed car, that appears to be dumped outside my driveway and blocking me in.

The Police said, "well as you can drive over your neighbours driveway (when he's not there) there is not a problem"

So what is stopping just anyone doing that at any time?

I know this is not the most earth shattering problem in the World for the Police etc, but as I dont call them out every day because I am being murdered, I am entitled to a little of their time when I need it.

I mean all they have to do is confirm that the car is untaxed and get a private firm to tow it away, pending owner turning up and paying for all of this. Otherwise crush it at the local taxpayers expense (i.e. me).

Grrrr!

You really don't need to be asking this.

It's your driveway, the cars been there longer than is fair to think the owner is going to return, ie from visiting someone close by.

When I lived at my parents house as a kid I often watched my father and older brother bounce a car from in front of the driveway gates to a strategically planned position, sideways on in the road.

Grab a mate or two and just bounce the car from the back, that way you haven't had to break into it.

Now I live in the sticks and rate the freedom of being able to enter/exit my own property without any hassle as a major factor for buying the place.

Get bouncing!!

My mate had the same problem a few years ago. He rang the local scrappy to ask if he'd take it away with no questions asked. Two hours later we watched as car was taken away. No paperwork, nothing, but problem solved.

i would just open the door and shift it myself, but the bounce method seams a bit fairer

try jacking it up and shoving a few skate boards under the rear wheels or sumthing and use it as a massive surfboard jackass style

This happened at my dads house before - I just broke into it released the handbrake and pushed it away.

From memory the council will move it if it causes an obstruction so push it into the middle of the road

Nope, price of steel has gone up...I got £20 for my car

Just phone up the scrappers they'll take it away...we had one dumped by a works site I was working, it was there for 1 week, and got side swiped by a JCB twice and a Aggregate truck.

Did the usual phoning the police, council etc with no luck. In the end just phone the local scrappers, car gone, problem solved

Go and get bouncing!

Do it tonight after dark, then it just looks like a group of lads were going home from the pub and did it for a wheeze.

If it was my driveway with an untaxed, dumped car it would be brick through the window and move after dark. If it was someones pride and joy they wouldn't have dumped it untaxed across someones driveway, so don't feel guilty about doing what is necessary.

this can be a good plan, but it can go wrong too. we were moving an old fiat using this method, early one morning. one jack was on the sump, the other under the back somewhere. unfortunately, the wheels of the jack under the sump got stuck, the momentum of the car carried on, and the jack disappeared into the internals somewhere. we "parked" the thing sharpish, but as we were walking away noticed smoke coming out. the head of the jack had shorted something. we went back and pulled out any wires we could find, which prevented the thing from catching fire.

about an hour later some bloke gets into the car and tries to start it. nothing happens, obviously. he sees us working down the street and asks us if we could give him a jump start. "'corse we will guvnor, no problem ".

he pops the bonnet and we make out to attach the jump leads. "err, guvnor, you got a bit of a problem here. some toe rag has pulled all these wires out of your motor, see? it ain't just a flat battery you got."

bloke thanks us very much for our help and wanders off looking confused.

sorry if that was you.

Try this -

"Hi - is that the bomd squad? This is paddy - I had to dump a bomb outside asif's house. It isn't primed, but the car broke down - can you sort it?"

Bomb sqaud will have a quick look , declare it safe and then soco will scoop it to find paddy prints

I have used a trolly jack under the rear of the car and swung it around (i needed to go to work ) so tempted to leave it sideways in the road

it probably dammaged the car but i dont care they should have parked over 2 driveways. only a crappy old toyota
