Question Mountain biking and the Icknield way

Having been on the Icknield way on my bike locally, I have recently thought about doing the whole trail from Ivinghoe Beacon to the norfolk coast. Will be doing this with a mate and possibly camping along the way.

Have looked up various websites in relation to the icknield way, but these seem not to offer much information, espceially for people who want to do the whole route in one go and stop off on the way.

Has anybody done this before, any tips to give for a 100 mile trip?

Sort of related

I done this ON FOOT 2 years ago

RIDGEWAY

Oldest road in Britain!

We walked over 4 days(and NO i will not do it again ) but i think this would be quite good for the mountian bikers

Anyway you may find some information for the link or try a good old book shop for some trail guides that may also help you

what did you do for the 3 nights of your trip, b&b or camp out? I cant seem to find any camping *plots* on stop overs on the trail, just b&b sites.

What sort of preperation did you do for the trip?

We had booked B & B's in advance

Only problem was some were off the trail(so extra walking)

I had been doing alot of cardio work in the gym but after 22 mile walk on the first day my legs were a stiff as ****

So deep heat would be the first thing to go in my ruck sack

Travel as light as poss with not to many clothes

There is a book you can buy on the Ridgeway which will have all the details of places to stay off the trail and other information which you will need

If you need phone numbers or anything just let me know

Let me know how you get on.
I can see the Beacon from my back garden and have talked about making the trip several times but I'm too busy with other sports at the moment.
(the map on top of the Beacon suggests it's an 88 mile trip)
