Default Selling via Autotrader???

When people sell cars via Autotrader do any of you bother putting the car in multiple regions???

So say I'm in the southwest, is it also worth paying to put it in the South and Thames Valley regions???

Obviously it will get more exposure I just wondered if anyone has experience of this and found it worth paying the extra...

thanks

Ed

I always use the internet only and that seems to work pretty well People from all over the country can see it then (and scammers though ) and it goes on instantly for about £15 or so.

When I sold mine pretty much ALL my enquiries came from the Auto Trader website and I don't believe any came from the enormous adverts I placed in the mag iteslf.

Sold the G/F's Honda via web only. 1st caller after 2 hours, sold for full asking price

I'd never consider buying the mag these days.

I've got a Forester that I'm thinking of advertising on there. Do I advertise it with the decat exhaust or not?

I would advertise without and then mention it when people call.

Question 2 then...

Do I declare it's an import on the advert or wait till people phone (being positive here)

just sold a car via auto trader, put on the web site for 2 weeks and a week in the mag, first week, a call every 2 days, soon as the mag came out on the friday took about 15 calls people wanting to see it at weekend and it sold. I guessed it was because of the mag and not the web as I would have took the mass of calls the week earlier too....

either way was happy as it was sold

Yep, completely agree. Advertising online is the way to go.

Some even let you advertise for free, with no annoying pop-ups or adware.

I disagree about advertising only on the web. Although the web is the place to BUY a car (since it has all the ads from all the papers plus the online-only ones), I've sold my last two cars through the printed mag. I've had little or no interest via the web site.

Maybe it depends on the car? Mine were a Nissan 100NX and a Westfield, both of which are quite rare so the mag has only one or two as a rule. Anyone wanting one and who doesn't have net access, has no choice about which one to buy.

Agree with above. Internet only at £15 a pop for two weeks is best. You can put a lot more words in too than in the magazine.

Anyone without the internet these days can't afford your car anyway.

You can stick your email on for nothing which is often a preferred first contact point.
