Default MOT question

If your car was say due an MOT in April but it has been in the garage and not used, if I book an MOT for this week, will I get 12 months MOT from this week?

Thanks.

I take it I haven't broken the law as the car has not been on the road?

But I am okay to drive it to the test centre so long as it is booked in.

Not sure on this, technically I think you still have to have an MOT even if the car is off the road, as if it's not been used then you'd have to fill out a SORN (Statutory Off Road Notificaton, or something like that)

Would not worry too much as you're on your way to get an MOT and if you do get pulled over, just point this out and they should be ok.

Markus, my understanding is that the SORN only relates to (feckin overpriced) road tax so as long as the car is taxed and not on the road, it doesn't matter if you have a current MOT or not.

So, make sure you book your car in for test, as said, you'll be fine!

It all makes sense in my head
