Question Dyson Question

the thing didn't seem to be working so i had a look at the filters. one can be washed out. the other one says "HEPA Permenant" on it, and doesn't look very washable. what are you supposed to do with this one? just leave it dirty?

i imagine it's gonna have to be replaced at some point, but when i looked on the dyson website the only one for sale seemed to be the washable one.

it's a DC08. any ideas?

I don't know about the DCO8, but the DCO4 HEPA filter is intended to last the life of the machine - although it can be replaced if the machine has had abnormal use.

When i 'inherited' my DCO4 from my old dad, it was clear it hadn't been cleaned out for years. I took off all the various unclippable pipes etc and found quite a build-up of cr@p. IIRC correctly, the vent (lots of small holes) behind the upright clear cylinder was almost completely bloched, and there was some string caught in one of the pipes which was collecting rubblish. Once all that was cleaned out it worked much better.

That's what screws up Dysons every time. One big DIY job and it all goes **** up. Although in fairness, once you've washed the washable filter, it is as good as new again.

corgi - good point, but a little late in the day.

i can't understand why the hepa filter thing isn't listed as a part or filter on the dyson website. suppose i'll have to email them.

Question

Chuck it out and get one with REAL suction: a VAX!:

BTW: I see that Dyson have dropped their advert about how their suction never drops due to blocked filters..................since it also showed that their suction started out LESS than most others:

I sent Mr Dyson an email once telling him that my Dyson was great but the cable ruined my vacuuming experience every time because it got in the way. I said he should invent a cordless Dyson that plugged into a charger. 2 days later I found a voicemail on my phone from Dyson saying it was a great idea and they were passing it onto their R&D department for further investigation. LOL!

Never heard anything since or seen a cordless Dyson, but if one appears I doubt I'll get any credit.

LOL - i think that the weight of the power pack on your cordless dyson might further ruin your vacuuming experience.

just get the wife down there with a straw.

Get another hoover and give the permanent filter a blast - I made the same mistake with the cement dust

I think it would look a bit silly if they sold replacement lifetime filters - Call them and tell them the lifetime filter you have has worn through - they might send you another one

P.C. - there is a cordless dyson - that does the hoovering without you going near it. The one mr dyson is holding - works with sensors - same as the lawnmowers that you get, for completely lazy *******s

I'll second that, I did this to my sisters dyson with plaster dust.

To all those considering a Dyson - Get a Henry Half the price, twice the vacuum

My first thought: was that developed before or after my email to him?!
My second thought: Ooh I'd like a biscuit now with this coffee.
My third thought: That cordless Dyson is very appealing, if you could just leave it running at night it would be the ultimate Woodlouse hunter in my house (and save me going round every night with a dust pan and brush to catch the horrid beasties.)

ironically that is part of my "medium term" plan. the down side is that i need to replace some joists before i can do this, so it's kind of on the back burner, pending lottery victory.

that's a better idea. if i import a few more woodworms, i could have an automatic sawdust creation system.
