we used a consultant from a company called allery scotts. i still have them come in about twice a year to check over the quality manual and internal audits. they are pretty good but it can be helpful to get someone who has experience of your industry sector, as this will make your manual more meaningful.

I work for an aerospace company, we supply aircraft tools and equipment to major airlines all over the world and the uk RAF and MOD.
We have all ISO certifications.
Its not worth the paper its written on, our company will not be re-newing it at the end of the year. Basically when we had the auditors in, they said it only benificial to large organisations, companies with around 25 + staff etc.
Yes, it does look good on paper, but there is alot of work that needs to go into it. Ask yourself is it really worth it.
Basically, all you pay for, is a fee that enables you to display the ISO logo.

mgg - i disagree. yes, it is a lot of work, but if the system is implemented properly it should improve the way the business is run. maybe it does benefit a lrage organisation more - we have about 100 staff.
unfortunately, it is people who don't "get on board" the process that make it harder to maintain the system.

From our company experience I say it's worth the effort especially if you want to boost credibility with customers (especially the large organisations such as aerospace/defence volume automotive etc).
For what it's worth, I would also say that it's very important to keep your procedures as basic as possible, i.e. comply with the requirements of the ISO standard but don't go OTT.

We've got all sorts of these accreditations and have to jump though the next set of hoops whe a new set comes out each time
as we're suppliers to the world automotive companies who won't play ball unless you have them ![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
There's been a shift towards continuous improvement written into them now rather than the older ones that let you toddle along and stick to noddy procedures - you could officially turn out crud as long as it was made to your procedure...![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
They can be good but also can take a lot of work keeping up to in multinational companies.
