I've had 2 phones with 02 online. I cancelled the first contract (with no problems) and went with T-Mobile, just for a change and a new phone, but they were rather pestilent so I went back to 02 online.
The online tarriffs are cheaper than the shops, so if you're willing to buy online you'll get a better deal.
I've never had any problems with 02, they've provided better service than Orange and T-Mobile for me.

Am I correct in thinking that if you buy an online tarrif you don't get access to the usual telephone call centre?
I thought you if you buy your tarrif on the internet you are ONLY allowed to solve questions\problems etc. over the internet NOT over the phone.

o2 kept dropping signal - changed contract terms without my consent and generally pi55ed me off. If you have an issue and are an online customer the number for advice costs 50p a min

They are superb value for money compared to other companys until you have a problem or issue.
Then be prepared to speak to abdulah muhammad who doesn't answer the question you asked either buy phone or email.
Depends what you want really a lot for little in terms of phone usage or customer service.

I saw an advert on the tube yesterday for free Orange camera phones
They can match any vendors standard traff with their OVP thingy.
And the bonus is that the Orange shop and the people you speak to on the phone are basically the same company!

o2 online and o2 stores are very similar in the sense that the tariif structures are almost the same - Oh and its exactly the same company in this instance - not basically the same - like Orange apparantly??!!! @@
For the consumer, there are some better offers on the online section so if you're up for being an o2 customer I'd plump for online..
As for the bad experiences, everyone in customer services is taught - Those who are unhappy with their service tell ten times more people than those who are happy...There are horror stories for each operator and service provider...Choose whichever suits you - hows that for competition law compliance!!
