Jacobs Ladder
For some reason i got thinking about this,
Throughout the film theres flashbacks to vietnam and hes living with a foreign woman and goes to visit a doctor. The hospital dont know the doctor hes referring to. He has a fit and burns up and his neighbours put him in a bath of ice. Flashback to vietnam again and hes been shot and dies on the operating theatre.
Are we to assume that his life after vietnam was an hillucination??

Class film, basically its about good vs evil and his souls search for absolution, various characters represent hope, despair etc, the film reflects his last few moments alive and the spiritual/ religious impact life has against the moral issues of war and the use of drugs with soldiers.

MAJOR SPOILER at the bottom
Ive done it below, but it is one of my fav films, and used to scare the cr@p out of me, violently shaking heads, with no faces !!!! freaky
The DVD is well worth buying, for the extras, deleted scenes etc
I must admit I was quite young when I first watched it, and it took a few goes to ultimatly realise what the film was about, and now it isnt scary anymore
They arent flashbacks to vietnam, they are in fact flash forwards to the future, whilst his life hangs on by a mere thread, moments before he finally dies on the operating table in vietnam

havent seen this for a while, and it took me a few watches to come close to trying to understand it! the way i see it, its all about his inability to accept that he's dying/dead.
theres a bit where he's talking to danny aiello( who plays a barman or a barber.. i cant quite remember..) who tells him when a person refuses to accept that there on the way out , they will be tormented by demons( the no faced shaky head man, the alien that does nasty things to his girlfriend in the night club), but when they finally accept there fate, they will be led to heaven by an angel, as his son does at the end before he dies on the table...

You need the American Artisan Special Edition Version
Extras & Highlights:
Artisan packed this disc to the brim. They have given the DVD a special edition title which it deserves. To start of there is of course the trailer and talent bios in addition to that they have also put the TV spots for the film. Also included are three deleted scenes with or without directors commentary. There is also a 27 minute long making of documentary which I would warn you not to watch before seeing the movie if you haven't seen it before because they say how it ends. Also on the disc is a commentary track by the director which is ok. The commentary does have long breaks in it and is rather slow but he does go very in depth with the movie making process. Doesn't get any better then this for extras.

Excellent film nonethe less and the actor (Tim Robbins) is excellent............. he turned up Trumps in the Stephen King Prison drama (Shawshank Redemption - one of my all time faves) and played another ok role in Mystic River - even if he was out acted by Sean Penn.............

Cheers MJ
Its the simplistic version of what happens
Oh and the scene with the fish (deleted scene) is strange, and spooky too
Sean Penn - 21 Grams, another good film

Seriously weird film I find it is best viewed under the influence of large amounts of your drug of choice
PS IIRC the guy who wrote the screenplay also wrote Ghost?
