I'm looking in to buying a cheap & cheeful digi vid cam, £300 - £400, can anyone recommend a good 'un, and any can help as to what is best, Digital 8, Hi 8, etc. would be appreacited.

MiniDV is the best format to get - don't bother with Digital 8 or Hi8 (of which the latter is not digital).

For £400, you should have the choice of many MiniDV camcorders, but the Panasonics and the Sony models at that price point get good write ups for the money.
