Anyone ever done ...........

I'd consider it... The only problem is getting to the start point would be a pain, then getting home equally long...
Quick go on RAC web site route planner makes Thurrock > Lands End > John O'Groates > Thurrock again to be 1855.8 miles
It would be another notch on the stick of life just to say you've done it though.

How about we do this next summer as a charity event for Diabetes?
My daughter suffers from this and injects 4x a day
She's been asking me if any of you guys would be up for some fund raising and this could be the perfect way to do so. What do you think?

A good idea - but not in a scooby. In all seriousness, you'd probably raise a lot more by asking drivers to donate the cost of driving a scooby that distance - must be a good 60/70p a mile with fuel, servicing, tyres and depreciation.

Sorry mate, I wasn't trying to be negative - I'm just in the process of buying and insuring a new scooby and it's making me think hard about what it actually costs to run
Mrs C and I did just over 500 miles from Scotland to Hampshire in a day and that was bad enough - fair play to anyone who can stay awake for twice that!

I did the Club Triumph round Britain reliability run for charity back in 1990. Start was Cockfosters, up to John o'Groats, down to Lands End and back across to Cockfosters. It was non stop approx 2000 miles in 48 hours. We had three drivers and an old Triumph 1300TC, oh and plenty of coffee .

In the dim and distant past when I was CLS as opposed to CLS II I seem to remember a member of Scoobynet doing an epic running in of a Sport which more or less meant an end to end, so to speak. Over about 24hrs if I recall....or did I dream it?

Not done it yet, but I'm planning to next week.
But I'm trying it as Top Gear insprired economy run in my little put put C3 HDi. The route planner says its 843 miles, and my cars handbook says my fuel tank is 10.2 gallons. I'm going to try to do it on one tank, which will be challenging, but it should be possible.

That should be possible, I average 55 mpg running exclusively in London, 60-65mpg on quick trips on the motorway. Best I have had so far is 72mpg, but that was a mix of motorway, town and backroads.
Given a straight run down A-roads and Motorways, avoiding any towns, and sticking rigidly to 55-60mph, it should be possible to get 80+mpg.

Myself and 6 other members (4 Ka's) of the Ka Owners Klub (dont laugh!!) did a John O'Groats to Lands End trip in 4 days last summer. We covered the Ka's in Stickers for advertising and Sponsorship, and managed to raise over £3000 for the NSPCC.
It was a great run, some amazing roads up north, and down south, and lots of good attention everywhere we went. We stopped at prebooked campsite's along the way, and made a scheduled stop at the Interford show at the Motor Heritage Centre in Gaydon (to collect a few quid more).
It was hard going, lots of people said "800 miles in 4 days...easy". It actually turned out to be a round trip for me of 2500 miles in 6 days.
We all loved every minute of it, if you get the chance, DO it.

I'm thinking about doing it.
A friend of mine is also considering biking the whole way - he reckons he'll need to do 8 hours in the saddle each day for a week!
