Registration Fee.....
My sister has just ordered a new car and has been told by the sealership that she has to pay the £80 registration fee to transfer her private reg across.
with a new car otr price including a first registration fee would she be paying double, or are the garage right.
we have not paid this £80 before on reg transfers when buying new cars before...........please advise!!!

The garage will want to register the car with a new age plate as to effectively give the car a birth certificate. Your sisters cherished number will, in effect, be a separate transaction so the £80 fee is applicable.
Should she sell the car at some point then the chances are she'll transfer the plate again and the car will more than likely be issued with the number that the garage registered the car under.
The point here however is, although the fee is valid, if I was buying a new car from a dealer then I'd happily tell them where to go if they didn't swallow this fee.
Your sisters business will be welcome elsewhere.
